Workshops

Martha Cole is a full-time professional artist, teacher and facilitator with degrees in FINE ARTS (University of Washington) and ART EDUCATION (University of Toronto). She has an extensive teaching history – initially as a high-school art teacher, then for 10-15 years teaching adult education courses through the University of Regina and Neil Balkwill Arts Centre, Regina. Over the last 10 years she has travelled extensively across Canada offering textile-based and/or book focussed courses.

She is a committed life-long learner and also takes numerous courses in the areas of surface design, quilting, machine stitched embellishment, calligraphy, bookbinding and, most recently, digital photo manipulation and book design.

She works primarily in textile work and artist's books, both limited editions and one-of-a-kind.

As well as workshops, which focus on skill-building techniques, her current workshop series concentrates on the development of the creative potential of the participants through explorations of various processes and methods of working. Cole has a 30-year exhibition history and brings that experience to her courses. These workshops are designed for the serious, intermediate to advanced participant who is trying to move their work out “into the world”. She is most excited teaching when she’s facilitating 5-day intensives with groups of committed artists wanting an in-depth experience.

For further clarification of workship contents, see the accompanying headings.
As of 2020, Martha Cole is no longer facilitating workshops.
